One horse can produce up to 9 tons of manure per year
Ag Canada states you can’t leave a manure pile sit for longer than 9 months (it’s just not enforced yet)
Manure piles must be set back 30m or more from a water course

Well, it’s that time again. Horse owners typically think (or are conditioned to think) that their horse(s) need deworming. The fact is, maybe they don’t, or perhaps not to the extent one may presume. The time is now to make an educated decision. Have a manure test done. It’s simple, it’s quick and it can save you money! But let’s consider your horse’s well being. You don’t go to the pharmacy and ask for a prescription just in case you think you have something, so why do it for your horse?

How do you handle a horse with burns?

Much like you do with people: Hold a softly running cold hose over the burn area if possible, cover with clean cloth, keep quiet, call your vet.

If a horse is in a barn, know that horses will be extremely frightened. They will not run out of the barn on their own. Use extreme caution. A horse may run right back inside a burning structure, so ensure they are taken clear of the scene and locked up in a corral or horse trailer.
